The Shield is one of two pairs of goalie gloves offered by STX (the other being the more expensive Shield Pro). They have a single piece palm, which allows for a greater grip on the shaft. The gloves themselves are very protective, and have extra reinforcement in commonly injured areas of the hand. As well as the hand protection, the Shield goalie gloves also have a fixed thumb, which offers maximum thumb protection which is an issue to any goalie.
